Granduca di Mandas
Our flagship, Granduca di Mandas is a pecorino with a strong personality. It has a fresh, fruity aroma and strong lactic notes, but in the mouth it is delicate, slightly spicy and with a lingering flavour. It has a dry and compact texture, due to its maturation period of more than 150 days. It is delicious eaten in pieces, as an aperitif or at the end of a meal, and is also perfect for grating. The wheel is large and weighs an average of 16 kg, and has a minimum maturation period of 5/6 months. In 2022, it was ranked by Gambero Rosso as the best Sardinian pecorino on the domestic and foreign markets. In 2023, at the prestigious World Cheese Awards, the world’s most important and authoritative cheese competition, it won the Silver medal, ranking among the second best pecorino cheeses in the world.
